Rachel Platten. Music name dropping galore.

Posted in Uncategorized on March 28th, 2011 by byronkho

New artist time! Rachel Platten’s music gets played in Banana Republic stores, and she’s fronted for Ziggy Marley & Katherine McPhee. Amy Regan likes her music, so following the chain, so should I…. and yes, I did. The cellist in this video, I think, died, and she played at his benefit with Regina Spektor, Tracy Bonham and Jupiter-One. Damn – who was Daniel Cho and why did I not learn the cello so I could be in pop videos just like him? I missed her swing through Philly, unfortunately. Perhaps in another few years she’ll be back? She’s collaborated with Alex Wong, who I saw swing through with Vienna Teng not long ago and collaborates with (boo) Amber Rubarth.

For the record, though this is entirely unrelated: I will be seeing Guys and Dolls at Holy Ghost sometime between April 6 and 9. (Edit: Good show.)

Curse you, Elizabeth and the Catapult, for changing your touring schedule, I assume, because of Sara Bareilles. Now I’ll have to heckle you during Perfectly Perfect like next year or something. Also, random No Ordinary Family appearance for Sara… Note to her: fire the security dude. He’s got his own Youtube channel, so he’ll be fine.

And? KT Tunstall at TLA, April 10. I was also excited for Sondre Lerche… but between him and the Script, I had to go with the Script. Sorry dude. Come back REALLY soon. Decemberists Jun 15.

One more. Nick Howard and Rachel Platten, covering Hey, Soul Sister. I like it better than Train’s original – and I really like the original.
